Private Lessons with Steve
Steve
Steve began playing music at the age of 6, listening to different pianists and figuring out the melodies on his piano at home. This developed into a fascination and love of music that has lasted his whole life. He began formal instruction at 7 years old at the hands of a number of teachers, performing at numerous recitals and competitions, ultimately leading to a Bachelors of Sacred Music at Nyack College with an emphasis on performance in classical piano. Over the years, Steve has performed in chamber ensembles and choirs including singing as part of the choir for Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall, Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna at Alice Tully Hall, as well as a choral tour of France while at college.
Steve is currently a music director at a Chinese church, has taught piano for many years and is able to infuse many different perspectives into his teaching which ranges from classical to jazz to rock and pop. Steve offers instruction in piano from age 5 through adult based on the needs, desires, and goals of each student, teaching fundamentals, technique, and artistry, whether preparing for a career in music or simply looking to develop a hobby. His passion for music and the joy it brings as well as its ability to transcend communication barriers is what drives him to pass this love on to others.
