Private Lessons with Amanda R
Amanda R
Amanda first studied Music Education at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia and continued at New Jersey City University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, with the flute being her primary instrument. Her experience in music began at the age of 9, singing in a youth choir. She started playing flute at the age of 10 and piccolo at the age of 13. It was at this age that she started studying flute privately and started learning piano.
For over 10 years, Amanda taught general elementary music, 4th-8th grade instrumental music, and 4th-8th grade vocal music/choir in a public school district. This experience allowed her to utilize a variety of teaching techniques to support each student on an individual level. For the past 10 years, she has taught beginner piano and music theory to students between the ages of 5 and 8.
She is a firm believer that having a solid foundation in music theory at a young age prepares students with valuable opportunities no matter what musical content they pursue. Making her students feel supported in their own growth, motivating her students to challenge themselves, and encouraging her students’ creativity and enjoyment are the most important and rewarding aspects of being a teacher.
